The importance of forecasting in logistics

I’ve been digging into inventory forecasting lately, and it truly feels like the backbone of successful logistics planning. When we accurately anticipate our needs, it not only streamlines our operations but also cuts costs significantly. I’m curious how others prioritize this in their organizations and what tools you find most effective.

Forecasting’s definitely key. In my experience, using time-series analysis with historical sales data has really improved our stock levels. It’s not perfect, though — unexpected market changes can throw a wrench in even the best forecasts.
