Perishable items and my sanity

Ever try to explain just-in-time delivery to a supplier who thinks lettuce can stay fresh for a week; i had a conversation yesterday that felt like I was speaking a different language! Meanwhile, I’m just over here checking the thermometer every five minutes to keep the avocado toast dreams alive.

I totally get your frustration! I once had to convince a supplier that fresh herbs need to be delivered the same day they’re harvested, otherwise, they’re worthless. It drove me nuts when they said they’d be fine in transit for days.

I once had a supplier swear tomatoes would be fine for a week in transit — turns out they just turn mushy and sad! My tip is to always include a clear delivery time frame and consider temperature-sensitive packaging. It can make all the difference, especially for those avocados! Ever had luck using cold packs in transit?
